British Airways has completed a six-month refurbishment project at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, unveiling a renovated lounge with new features such as a bar, quiet room, and updated entrance.
The 360sqm lounge offers a variety of seating options, local artwork by artists such as Olawunmi Banjo and Qozeem Abdul Rahman, and a rotating in-lounge exhibition curated by Akoje Gallery, focusing on the theme of ‘New Beginnings’.
The self-service dining area provides a range of dishes including Chicken Akara, meat skewers, jollof rice, lasagne, Greek salad, and more, with First class guests offered Champagne and canapes at the new bar.
The lounge renovations were announced at a showcase event earlier this year, part of British Airways’ strategy to enhance the overall customer experience and invest in lounge facilities worldwide beyond in-flight services.
Calum Laming, British Airways’ chief customer officer, said: “we’re focused on investing in the entire customer journey, not just on board. For many of our customers, lounges are an important part of their experience, and the re-design of our Lagos lounge is a key part of our transformation strategy across our lounges around the world. We’re delighted to open our doors to this stunning lounge in Lagos and we’re confident customers will enjoy spending time in this cleverly created space.”
