Fingal County Council said additional parking for existing Dublin Airport staff, where DAA has submitted plans for a 950-space car park, is against national policy

The Council cited national policy shifts towards public and sustainable transport, indicating a preference for moving away from private car use.

Pre-planning consultations revealed that the Council considered the proposed staff car park to be a material contravention of Fingal Development Plan objectives.

DAA argued that the new car park is essential to meet existing demand and serves as replacement parking for spaces displaced by airport developments, emphasizing it as a necessary element of airport operations. A decision on the planning application is expected in August.
