Aer Lingus pilots considered ramping up industrial action with another strike on Saturday July 6, but a decision was delayed after a meeting of the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association’s (Ialpa) parent union Fórsa.
The Fórsa committee adjourned without discussing the proposed escalation due to an invitation from the Labour Court for a meeting on Monday and a call for no further escalation before that date.
The Labour Court will conduct a comprehensive review of the pilots’ claim for a 24pc pay increase, with the potential for suggesting new negotiations if room for discussion is found.
Fórsa general secretary Kevin Callinan said: “this is a crucial intervention and if it fails, it will have the most dire consequences, including a very serious escalation of industrial action afterwards”
The Labour Court has invited both Aer Lingus and the Irish Airline Pilots Association to a meeting on Monday to discuss the ongoing pay dispute between pilots and management.
