Fórsa dissuades pilots from further action as Labour Court invites both sides to talks on Monday

Aer Lingus pilots considered ramping up industrial action with another strike on Saturday July 6, but a decision was delayed after a meeting of the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association’s (Ialpa) parent union Fórsa.

The Fórsa committee adjourned without discussing the proposed escalation due to an invitation from the Labour Court for a meeting on Monday and a call for no further escalation before that date.

The Labour Court will conduct a comprehensive review of the pilots’ claim for a 24pc pay increase, with the potential for suggesting new negotiations if room for discussion is found.

Fórsa general secretary Kevin Callinan said: “this is a crucial intervention and if it fails, it will have the most dire consequences, including a very serious escalation of industrial action afterwards

The Labour Court has invited both Aer Lingus and the Irish Airline Pilots Association to a meeting on Monday to discuss the ongoing pay dispute between pilots and management.
