FedEx Express retires 20pc of B757 fleet

FedEx Express has permanently retired twenty-two B757-200(SF) aircraft, a fifth of its B757 fleet, and seven related engines as part of its fleet modernization strategy, resulting in a noncash impairment charge of USD157 million.

The company aims to improve global network efficiency and align air network capacity with current and anticipated demand through these actions.

In total, 31 jet aircraft were removed from FedEx’s fleet in fiscal year 2024, including nine MD-11Fs.

FedEx Express plans to add eleven B767-300Fs, two B777Fs in 2025, and continue retiring MD-11Fs as part of its fleet modernization plan. Additionally, the feeder fleet is expected to see the addition of Cessna 408s and ATR72-600Fs in 2025 and beyond.
