Bombardier is considering buying back its former operations in Ireland, which were sold to Spirit AeroSystems in 2020.
This move would affect approximately 2,500 jobs in Belfast, where the firm was once the biggest employer. Airbus recently moved to buy the operation, which unions say could lead to 40pc of the staff losing their jobs The 600,000-square-foot facility fabricates and assembles the entire integrated wing for the A220.
People familiar with the situation have revealed that Bombardier is looking to repurchase most of what it sold to Spirit AeroSystems
