The number of officers in the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) has decreased over the past two years despite an increase in migrants and refugees.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee’s has revealed that the GNIB currently has less than 100 officers.

The GNIB plays a crucial role in preventing, detecting, and investigating illegal immigration in Ireland.

The reduction in GNIB officers raises concerns about the bureau’s capacity to effectively manage the growing challenges of immigration enforcement.
