Japan Airlines announced at Farnborough air show that it has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for 20 A350-900 and 11 A321neo aircraft, and separately with Boeing for up to ten additional 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
The A350-900s will be used on international flights starting in 2027, while the A321neos will replace Boeing 767s on domestic routes from 2028.
JAL aims to provide the highest level of service to customers while reducing CO2 emissions by introducing the latest fuel-efficient aircraft.
With this order, JAL will become one of the largest Dreamliner operators globally, with plans to expand new point-to-point markets with the 787.
