WestJet has announced plans to offer free wifi connectivity across its fleet in partnership with TELUS using SpaceX’s Starlink technology.
Currently, WestJet offers paid internet access on selected aircraft but does not support streaming or VoIP applications.
The roll-out of free wifi will begin in December on Boeing 737 aircraft and will be expanded to the rest of the fleet by the end of next year.
WestJet will provide free wifi to WestJet Rewards members and TELUS customers, with plans to offer additional perks in the future. Other airlines, including Qatar Airways and Qantas, have also announced plans to offer free inflight wifi.
