Fingal County Council has requested additional information from DAA regarding their plans to construct an aircraft observation point near Dublin Airport, including the omission of toilet facilities which they deemed disappointing.

The council planner’s report highlighted the absence of toilet facilities as contrary to universal design and quality placemaking, suggesting alternatives such as eco-toilets or portaloos be explored.

DAA’s proposal includes an elevated viewing platform, sheltered viewing structure, seating, tables, and improved parking, with the council welcoming the proposal in principle but requiring further details on access, public amenity, landscaping, and traffic impact.

The council also expressed concerns about ad-hoc parking and requested a dedicated traffic survey, while a comprehensive submission against the scheme was sent by Liam O’Grádaigh, who has previously lodged more than 1,000 complaints with Dublin Airport.
