Korean Air has decided to remove instant noodles from the economy inflight menu starting from 15 August due to the increased risk of turbulence on flights, to prevent burn accidents.
The carrier has renewed its inflight snack service in economy class, offering snacks such as sandwiches, corn dogs, and hot pockets instead of instant noodles.
Inflight turbulence has been a concern following recent incidents, leading some researchers to believe that climate change is making turbulence more likely.
Instant noodles will still be available to Korean Air’s business and first class passengers, as they are served individually, reducing the risk of spillage compared to serving multiple portions in economy class.
