AirNav Ireland launches student Air Traffic Controller programme

AirNav Ireland is offering applications for their Student Air Traffic Controller Programme, responsible for managing air traffic within Ireland and parts of the North Atlantic.

Applicants must be at least 19 years old, have passed the Leaving Certificate passed at least five subjects in the Leaving Certificate (including Mathematics) with Grade C in at least two higher level papers or hold a comparable award at Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), and be eligible to work in the EU for consideration.

There is no upper age limit, but candidates need to be 21 to become a licensed air traffic controller, with training held at AirNav Ireland’s Training Centre in Co. Clare before practical training at state airports.

Students in the programme are eligible for a weekly allowance during training and eventual salary increase upon commencing On the Job Training, with regular medical examinations required for operational Air Traffic Controllers.
