A tourism delegation from Clare County Council is travelling to the US for the Milwaukee Irish Fest to target American holidaymakers.

The delegation will promote ‘Fly Shannon’ services with four scheduled flights between Shannon Airport and JFK, Newark, Boston Logan, and Chicago O’Hare airports, led by Councillor Alan O’Callaghan, the Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council.

Milwaukee Irish Fest, held at Henry Maier Festival Park, features Irish music, dance, sports, and culture, with Maurice Walsh Durty Nelly’s providing Irish Coffee making demonstrations this year and a music lineup including Lúnasa and The High Kings.

The promotion aims to attract American tourists planning 2025 foreign holidays, shifting focus from the domestic market to the US market, emphasizing the availability of direct services to Shannon Airport and showcasing Clare and the international airport to overseas audiences.

Seán Lally, Chair of the Clare Tourism Advisory Forum commented: “This tourism promotion is particularly timely as American tourists begin planning their foreign holidays for 2025. The domestic market has been a key focus of our tourism marketing efforts during the first half of 2024 but as we head into the autumn, our focus must shift to the key US market where people are now beginning to plan where they are going to holiday abroad next year. We need to get out there and convince people to ‘Fly Shannon’.
