The Byron and Risorgimento Museum in Ravenna, Emilia Romagna, will reopen on 26 October after renovations, coinciding with the 164th anniversary of the unification of Italy.
Previously situated in the Church of San Romualdo, the museum is now housed in Palazzo Guiccioli on Via Canvour, with a focus on Lord Byron’s influence and Italian patriots during the Risorgimento movement.
Lord Byron’s presence in Ravenna from 1820 to 1821, where he wrote significant poems and engaged in Risorgimento politics, is highlighted in the museum’s exhibits, featuring multimedia devices and physical artifacts for an immersive experience.
Visitors to Ravenna can explore UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the Basilica of San Francesco, and indulge in local culinary delights like handmade passatelli and cappelletti pasta after a day filled with culture and history. Further information is available on the Byron and Risorgimento Museum’s website and the Emilia Romagna tourism site.
