Etihad will celebrate its 20th anniversary of flights to Mumbai by operating its A380 aircraft on three-times-weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Mumbai from 1 September to 31 December, 2024.

The airline launched its inaugural flight to Mumbai in 2004 and now offers nonstop services between Abu Dhabi and 11 cities in India, with plans for further expansion.

Special fares are being offered until 25 August, with return first class tickets starting from £1,776 and business class from £504 for travel between 1 September and 13 October on the Abu Dhabi to Mumbai route.

Etihad’s chief revenue and commercial officer, Arik De, expressed excitement for the A380 service to Mumbai as part of the anniversary celebrations, highlighting the significance of showcasing the iconic aircraft on this route for a limited period. Additionally, the airline has expanded A380 services to various other destinations.

The A380 operates three of Etihad’s four daily flights to Heathrow, and has also returned to New York, with A380 services to Paris set to resume in November. Last week the airline also announced plans for A380 services to Singapore, set to launch in early 2025.

Arik De, Etihad’s chief revenue and commercial officer, said: “to kick off our celebrations for 20 years of service to Mumbai and India, we are thrilled to introduce our A380 on the Mumbai route. While this iconic aircraft is typically reserved for long-haul journeys, for our 20 years of celebrations of flying to India, we will showcase the A380 on three-days a week for a period of four months.”
