A consortium consisting of major global infrastructure developers, including Plenary from Australia, Webuild from Italy, Keolis from France, and Hitachi from Japan, has formed to bid for contracts to construct and operate the MetroLink rail line connecting Dublin city and airports.

The consortium’s formation signals the market’s anticipation of the project moving forward relatively quickly, with the estimated cost of delivering the MetroLink rail line standing at around €9.5bn.

The planned 18.8km rail line will connect Swords to Dublin city, passing under Dublin Airport and featuring 16 new stations, 11 of which will be underground, representing a revised version of the MetroNorth project that has been in consideration since 2005.
