Aer Lingus A330-300 flies past Aviva to mark college football classic

Aer Lingus A330-300 EI-EIL, using the callsign ‘Shamrock 1936’, flew over the Aviva Stadium at 1,400ft on Saturday at 17:02 to mark the opening of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic 2024, before operating flight EI137 to Boston later in the evening.

Aer Lingus has arranged four special charter flights, two inbound and two outbound, using the Airbus A330-300 with 317 seats each, transporting a total of 1,122 passengers, including players, coaches, and support staff to and from Dublin for the event.

The logistics involve 49 crew members managing the charter flights and ground handling, handling 1,720 pieces of luggage, 600 kit bags, and 16,000 kilograms of cargo like training equipment and supplies to ensure both teams are fully equipped for the game day.

The Aer Lingus College Football Classic serves as a significant economic driver for Ireland, with an estimated economic impact of €115m for this year, contributing to the local economy and projected to generate over €500m by the end of the current five-game series.
