Aer Lingus, British Airways (BA), Delta, IAG, IATA, Iberia Express, and Vueling collectively have joined together to lobby for the reconsideration of charges at Dublin Airport as part of the annual consultation process.
They say charges should be implemented no earlier than Summer 2025. The airlines highlighted the challenge of adjusting ticket prices based on the current charging structure and emphasised the need for the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) to conduct an economic assessment to validate any proposed changes and evaluate their impact on Dublin Airport’s objectives under the NAP.
Concerns were raised by Aer Lingus, IAG, Iberia Express, and Vueling regarding the complexity in the Dublin aviation environment, citing factors such as planning restrictions on terminal capacity, potential night flight quotas, and ongoing legal proceedings related to airport charges, which they believe make an additional review of charges unnecessary.
The airlines expressed the view that any revisions to charges should be thoroughly assessed through an economic evaluation process to ensure alignment with Dublin Airport’s strategic goals and operational requirements.
