Drogheda floating pontoon at Fiddle Case Pier ‘will boost tourism’

Drogheda Port Authority plans to install a floating pontoon at Fiddle Case Pier to enhance leisure activities and tourism opportunities for the River Boyne, benefiting the local community.

A report indicated that this project represents a unique opportunity for economic growth in Drogheda and the Louth-Meath region, particularly in the tourist and marine leisure sectors.

The pontoon, part of a previously funded project by Louth County Council and Drogheda Port Company in 2017, aims to activate public use of the Boyne River and support various new water activities.

CEO Paul Fleming emphasized that the pontoon will provide safe access for the community across all tides, promoting outdoor activities and inclusivity, especially for individuals with disabilities, thereby encouraging independence and social interaction.
