Ryanair reports that 12pc of first wave departures (70 of 561 aircraft) were delayed due to ATC staff shortages on Thursday October 17.
This follows delays on Wednesday of 9pc (52 of 560 aircraft), Tuesday of 8pc (89 of 563 aircraft), Monday of 6pc(33 of 563 aircraft), Sunday of 12pc (67 of 571 aircraft), Saturday of 13pc (73 of 555 aircraft), Friday of 15pc (82 of 557 aircraft). Thursday of 8pc (44 of 561 aircraft) and Wednesday last of 11pc (63 of 561 aircraft).
A written statement apologised to its passengers for the excessive flight delays caused by European ATC staff shortages which is affecting all European airlines.
ATC services, which have had the benefit of no French ATC strike disruption this summer, continue to underperform (despite flight volumes being 5pc behind 2019 levels) with repeated “staff shortages”. These repeated flight delays due to ATC mismanagement are unacceptable.
We apologise to our passengers for these repeated ATC flight delays which are deeply regrettable but beyond Ryanair’s control. We encourage passengers to visit atcruinedourholiday.com and demand that the EU Commission take urgent action to improve Europe’s ATC system.
