Minister James Lawless has met with Aer Lingus executives to discuss the passenger cap at Dublin Airport, as part of ongoing consultations with key aviation stakeholders.

The discussion highlighted Aer Lingus’ hub operations at Dublin Airport, connecting Europe and North America, aligning with government policies to enhance airport connectivity.

Concerns were raised about the 32m passenger cap and its potential effects on Aer Lingus, particularly regarding restrictions on night-time movements.

Lawless intends to maintain dialogues with other stakeholders and explore alternative solutions to mitigate the cap’s impact on travel, business, and tourism, including utilizing Cork and Shannon airports.
