The Irish Wake Museum in Waterford has been announced as a finalist for the 2024 Tourism Awards organised by England’s Guild of Travel Writers.

The museum showcases an iconic aspect of Irish culture, situated in Ireland’s oldest urban dwelling, a 15th-century almshouse that highlights themes associated with death through various interactive exhibits and storytelling.

The museum was nominated by Kinsale based travel writer Isabel Conway, and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on November 4th, coinciding with the World Travel Market in London.

The museum is set to host Samhain events, including spooky tours for adults and creative workshops for children, emphasizing its role in celebrating cultural traditions while providing educational experiences.
