Finnair will redeploy its A330-300 capacity from routes to Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Doha after its partnership with Qatar Airways ends on January 15, 2025, while continuing to offer codeshare flights with the carrier.
The airline’s widebody fleet includes eight A330-300s and seventeen A350-900s, with six A330s currently servicing the affected routes, while the remaining two are wet-leased to Qantas.
Finnair CEO Turkka Kuusisto indicated that the two redeployed A330-300s may be used for new routes to Miami and Dubai, as well as other destinations being added for the 2025 summer season, including flights to Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, and cities in Japan and China.
The collaboration between Finnair and Qatar Airways began in late 2022 to adjust Finnair’s network strategy post-Russian airspace closure, and the airline has also wet-leased aircraft to various operators, including Qantas, which will operate Finnair’s A330s on specific routes through 2029.
