Turkish Airlines carried 24.5m passengers and achieved a profit of US$1.3bn in Q3 2024, marking a 5.4pc increase in passenger numbers from the previous year despite industry challenges.
The airline’s total revenue for Q3 reached $6.6 billion, a 4.9pc year-on-year increase, with 84pc of revenue derived from passenger travel, particularly flights to the Far East.
Turkish Cargo also reported significant growth, with a 47pc rise in revenue to $911m and a 16.8pc increase in cargo volumes, positioning it as the world’s third-largest air cargo carrier for September.
The airline plans to grow its fleet to 800 aircraft by its centenary in 2033, having increased its current fleet to 467, and has made strides in sustainable finance by financing Airbus A350s in Chinese Yuan and securing a loan for fuel-efficient aircraft.
