Jeju Air plans to reduce its flight schedules by 10-15pc during the northern winter season to allocate more time for aircraft maintenance and inspections.

Regulatory data indicated that Jeju Air had the highest aircraft flying hours among Korean operators, prompting CEO Kim E-bae to take responsibility for the airline’s operational practices and assure that they were not overburdening employees or aircraft.

The investigation focuses on ensuring thorough inspections and compliance across all Korean-registered B737-800s, following public concerns about the aircraft model involved in the crash that led to the loss of 179 lives.

Korean police are investigating Jeju Air’s offices following a fatal crash at Muan airport on December 29, 2024, seeking maintenance and operational data relevant to the incident.
