Ryanair is to reduce summer flights in Spain citing what it calls high fees from state-controlled airport operator Aena.
The airline will completely stop operations in Jerez and Valladolid, while also cutting back on flights to and from Vigo, Santiago de Compostela, Zaragoza, Santander, and Asturias.
Total capacity will be decreased by 18pc across 12 routes, resulting in the cancellation of around 800,000 passenger seats compared to the last summer.
Ryanair plans to shift its aircraft and capacity to countries like Italy, Sweden, Croatia, Hungary, and Morocco, where regulatory environments are more growth-friendly.
