Fáilte Ireland launched a new tourism plan for Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands, targeting Roscommon, Leitrim, and Cavan, to boost both domestic and international tourism appeal over the next five years.

The Upper Shannon, Shannon-Erne, and Border Destination and Experience Development Plan (DEDP) aims to extend the tourism season and implement initiatives for enhancing visitor experiences and supporting local communities.

Key stakeholders, including county councils and local tourism businesses, collaborated to create this plan, highlighting opportunities such as the Beara Breifne Way and leveraging attractions like the River Shannon and UNESCO Geopark.

The plan focuses on a regenerative tourism model, ensuring that natural resources, the community, and the environment are prioritized as tourism development progresses.
