America’s FAA introduces rules to hide private aircraft ownership

The FAA has introduced new data privacy rules allowing private aircraft owners to remove their details from public registers as part of the 2024 Reauthorization Act.

Requests for data removal will be published in the Federal Register for public comment, enabling the FAA to assess impacts on maintenance and regulatory functions.

Congressman Nick Langworthy has proposed legislation to enhance safety standards for US DOT Part 380 public charter flights, aiming to align them with those of Part 121 scheduled operators.

The US Department of Transportation previously tightened safety rules for Part 380 operators, which remain less stringent than those for their scheduled counterparts.

Current regulations permit Part 380 charterers to contract any operator for flights similar to scheduled services, creating potential overlaps in operating authorities.
