The National Transport Authority (NTA) has reported that over half of all taxi complaints in 2024 were related to overcharging or fare issues.

A total of 1,712 complaints were submitted to the NTA last year, with a substantial portion concerning driver behaviour and vehicle condition.

Overcharging issues dominated the complaint statistics, indicating a persistent problem in the taxi service sector.

Driver conduct and the maintenance of vehicles were also key areas of concern for passengers expressing dissatisfaction.

The findings reflect ongoing challenges within Ireland’s taxi services and highlight the need for improvement in service standards.
