Clare County Council has acquired land on the outskirts of Lisdoonvarna as part of the Cliffs of Moher 2040 Strategy.

The land may serve as remote parking or a park and ride facility aimed at supporting visitors to the Cliffs of Moher.

The Cliffs of Moher 2040 Strategy has yet to be formally adopted and one councillor complained to the Clare Champion that the purchase has taken place without the knowledge of the North Clare elected members. “I know that a strip of land on the outskirts of Lisdoonvarna was purchased, the backdrop being that they were bought potentially for a park and ride, or remote parking for the Cliffs of Moher.”
