A Chinese woman who fell overboard Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas was rescued by a fishing boat crew, but not before spending 38 hours in the Pacific Ocean without a life jacket. he swam, treaded water, floated, and even caught some shut-eye before attracting the attention of a fishing boat’s crew who pulled her aboard. She was exhausted and suffered from sunburn and jellyfish stings.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection will name its next 128-passenger river ship SS Joie de Vivre, in March 2017, the line’s first “super ship” to sail on the Seine and will be able to dock in the heart of Paris.

Liverpool City Council approved a €1.1m feasibility study which could see the construction of a larger two-story cruise terminal in the city. The proposed new terminal  at the site of Princes Jetty at Princes Parade in Liverpool Waters would have the capacity to handle up to 3,600 cruise passengers and include a new passenger and baggage terminal containing passport control, a lounge and cafe, bathrooms, a taxi rank, a coach pick-up and drop-off zone, a vehicle pick-up point and a car park. The number of cruise ships visiting Liverpool has risen from 31 to 61 annually since 2012. The increase has seen passenger numbers passing through Liverpool up from 38,656 to 78,000 annually, which has generated an estimated £6.5 million for the local economy through onshore spending.
