Croatia Airlines is reporting that competition from Ryanair has led to decline in performance at Sarajevo. Ryanair’s operations expansion from Sarajevo in late March and early April contributed to a passenger drop.
Croatia Airlines carried 22,938 passengers between Zagreb and Sarajevo in the first half of 2025, a 13.6pc decrease year-on-year and 24pc below 2019 levels.
Capacity on the route increased by 1,074 seats with eleven extra operations compared to 2024, yet the average load factor fell to 44pc.
Sarajevo’s connectivity improved with new carriers launching services over the past year.
The airline plans performance recovery in the second half via new Zagreb routes and A220 arrivals, shifting Sarajevo to wet-lease turboprops.
