Ireland is one of just five countries to see a decline in European tourism in 2025.

  • Ireland recorded a 9.0pc fall in tourist arrivals and a 13.4pc drop in tourist receipts in 2025. 
  • Switzerland saw tourist arrivals remain flat at 0.0pc while receipts fell by 1.1pc. 
  • Germany experienced a 1.9pc decline in arrivals and a 0.1pc drop in receipts. 
  • Belgium registered a 4.8pc rise in arrivals but a 3.1pc decrease in receipts. 
  • Azerbaijan posted a 1.6pc decline in arrivals with receipts essentially unchanged.
