Concerns have been raised that silt build-up in Kinsale inner harbour threatened tourism and sailing. Kinsale Yacht Club reported silting problems for over five years affecting children’s programmes.

Ann Bambury warned that continued siltation would damage the town’s reputation and commerce. The yacht club ran the Sailability programme for children of all abilities on the water. Marie O’Sullivan noted that lost berths would reduce summer visitor income.

Ann Bambury shared “If the problem continues, the reputation for Kinsale Harbour will be diminished.”
