Airlines have been offering comfortable pyjamas as a perk in first and business class, alongside lie-flat seats, Champagne and multicourse meals. Todd Bliwise, founder of the luxury New York-based travel company An Avenue Apart and an airline expert who flies over 200,000 miles a year, is a fan of airline pyjamas and changes into his as soon as he can. Bliwise stated that the pyjama game has evolved over the years and that some carriers have started offering pairs in business class as well.
United’s pyjamas feature a Henley-style shirt and loose-fitting pants with an elastic waistband. Passengers in Polaris Studio suites receive a hoodie-style shirt and matching pants in a breathable fabric. American Airlines Flagship Business passengers are treated to one of three limited-edition pyjamas inspired by different eras the brand has been around. Each design, Astrojet, Silverbird and Forward, nods to a time period in a deep-blue hue. Air India has collaborated with TUMI for stylish pyjamas made from recycled fabric.
Cathay Pacific’s pyjamas for first class fliers are courtesy of the luxury Hong Kong-based fashion label PYE. Made of super-light organic cotton, they feature a double-sided collar inspired by a Mandarin suit. Singapore Airlines first class and Suite fliers can slip into pyjamas by Lalique. They come in a timeless unisex charcoal gray shade and are paired with thick matching slippers and a Lalique amenity set. Emirates first class pyjamas are crafted from super-soft modal. Women are gifted a blush pink and light grey set, while men receive a pair in a two-tone grey palette. Air France La Première customers are presented with navy-blue pyjamas by the French fashion house Jacquemus.
