Aer Lingus has launched its latest Avios-only service from Dublin to Malta on 1 August 2026 with fares from 20,000 Avios plus taxes, fees and carrier charges. This follows the first Aer Lingus points-only flight to Tenerife in August 2024.

British Airways and Iberia have already operated more than 50 Avios-only flights since the programme began in 2023. Aer Lingus has offered seats on the Dublin to Malta route as part of the wider IAG Loyalty initiative. Passengers can book these flights through Avios.com, the Avios app or the airline website.

The concept has allowed collectors to redeem points for peak-period travel including school holidays. Aer Lingus has set the Malta flight fares at 20,000 Avios per person in addition to taxes and charges. The move has formed part of IAG’s strategy to increase engagement with its loyalty programme.

IAG shared in written statement “We know a large number of customers collect Avios with the aim of redeeming them for flights during peak periods, so we wanted to make it easier to find and book Reward Seats during these periods.”
