Birmingham Airport’s runway was closed on Wednesday for four hour period after a small aircraft faced an emergency landing at around 13:40 local time.

A Beech B200 Super King Air was involved, having taken off for Belfast at 12:11 local time. Emergency crews responded, with one person sustaining minor injuries and all passengers being safely discharged.

Flights were diverted to other English airports, and some departures faced delays until 18:00. The airport served around 13m passengers last year, making it the third largest outside London.
