Boeing has secured a contract from the U.S. Air Force to modernise the flight deck of the Globemaster III, ensuring the aircraft remains mission-ready for decades.
The upgrade involves designing, manufacturing, integrating, qualifying, and certifying a modernised flight deck with modular open systems architecture (MOSA). This approach allows for rapid and cost-effective adoption of new capabilities through plug-and-play enhancements, replacing critical avionics and mission-essential equipment.
The programme supports the U.S. Air Force and allied operators by extending the service life of the C-17A fleet amid evolving operational demands. The modernisation focuses on reliability, affordability, and future-proofing the platform against emerging threats and requirements.
Boeing shared in a written statement: “The contract provides for the design, manufacture, integration, qualification and military certification of a modernized flight deck for the C-17A.”
