Budapest Airport welcomes new Wizz Air route to Ankara

Budapest Airport has welcomed Wizz Air’s new direct service between Budapest and Ankara. The route has become the first scheduled air link between the capitals of Hungary and Türkiye. Wizz Air operates the service three times weekly using Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The new route has expanded Wizz Air’s Turkish network, which already includes services to Antalya, Istanbul and Izmir. Budapest Airport has increased capacity to Türkiye to over 900,000 seats in 2026. The Ankara service has added more than 300,000 seats to the Turkish network this year.

Máté Ritter, Airline Development Director at Budapest Airport, confirmed the addition strengthens business and cultural ties between the two countries. The route has attracted over 10,000 connecting passengers annually with more than 30pc travelling for business purposes.

Máté Ritter shared “We are delighted to welcome the first ever scheduled service to Ankara, operated by our long-term partner Wizz Air. This further enhances our strong and expanding network to Türkiye.”
