Emirates finishes first two-class A380 retrofit

Emirates has completed the retrofit of its first two-class A380 aircraft into a three-class configuration. The aircraft A6-EUX now operates between Dubai and Birmingham with 76 Business Class seats, 56 Premium Economy seats, and 437 Economy Class seats. Premium Economy appears on the upper deck for the first time in a 2-3-2 layout.

The in-house programme by Emirates Engineering involved 35,000 man-hours and more than 2,500 part types. The carrier removed 120 Economy seats on the upper deck to add Premium Economy and extra Business seats. Fifteen two-class A380 aircraft undergo this process.
