Portugal will return to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship calendar in 2027 with the Formula 1 Portuguese Grand Prix taking place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão from 18 to 20 June 2027. The confirmation follows the official publication of the 2027 season calendar by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile. The race marks the return of Formula 1 to the country and follows the agreement signed between Formula 1 and the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in December 2025 which also secures the staging of the race in 2028.
The Portuguese round will occupy a position at the start of the European season. According to André Gomes, President of Turismo do Algarve, the event will increase impact significantly with hundreds of thousands of people over the several days of the event, an extraordinary global audience and an estimated economic potential of around €150m with effects on hotels, restaurants, transport, retail, services and a broad chain of companies and suppliers across the region.
Tickets will be available from 21 September with the official campaign for the 2027 Portuguese Grand Prix launching on that date. The first of four ticket sales phases will begin exclusively through the event’s official platform at portugalf1gp.com. In the first phase, three-day general admission tickets, reserved seats in all grandstands and different hospitality options will be available.
Jaime Costa, Chief Executive Officer of Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, shared: “We finally have a date we have been working towards for a very long time. The last season held here, in 2021, left drivers, teams and fans impressed by our facilities, but above all by the excitement that our circuit delivers.”
