Severe flooding in Heathrow Airport’s central terminal area has completely blocked road access to Terminals 2 and 3. The airport has issued an urgent travel warning telling passengers not to travel by road to these terminals. Because central roads are closed, you cannot drive directly to the Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 car parks.
Heathrow strongly advises all passengers to switch to train or underground routes. These services. Heathrow Express, Elizabeth Line and Piccadilly Line (London Underground) are running normally to the airport:
If using a car is your only option passengers are advised to bypass the flooded central terminal area:
- Use Park and Ride: Drive to official Heathrow Park & Ride locations away from the centre.
- Head to Terminals 4 or 5: Park your car at the open Terminal 4 Park & Ride or Terminal 5 car parks.
- Take Free Airport Trains: Once parked at T4 or T5, hop onto the free internal rail links to safely reach T2 or T3.
- Use Local Rail Stations: Alternatively, park at a nearby train station outside the airport boundaries and take a train into Heathrow.
Passengers are advised to allow extra time as journeys will take much longer due to heavy traffic diversions and to monitor the Heathrow airport transport and directions portal before setting off to see if roads have reopened.
