ITA Airways becomes 26th member of Star Alliance

ITA Airways has joined Star Alliance as its 26th member and adopted Lufthansa Group technology for its digital platform. The Italian airline reported a net profit of €209 million for 2025 after a €227 million loss the year before.

Leaders from ITA, Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance celebrated the milestone at Rome Fiumicino last week. Revenues reached €3.2 billion with €2.8 billion from passenger operations. Passenger numbers fell by 8pc while improved yields and tighter network management drove the turnaround.

ITA added 10 aircraft last year and retired three to reach a total fleet of 107 planes that includes 24 widebodies. The airline took delivery of its 16th Airbus A330neo last week. Joerg Eberhart serves as CEO of ITA.
