Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas suffered a massive plumbing failure and cabin flood that occurred on July 28, 2026 and quickly went viral on social media. Eyewitnesses and subsequent updates clarified that the issue stemmed from a severe jacuzzi plumbing failure on an upper deck.
The severe flooding directly impacted interior cabin number 12539 on Deck 12, with water quickly seeping into the surrounding hallways and neighboring staterooms. Passengers returned to their staterooms around 9pm. to find water streaming continuously through the ceiling light fixtures “like a monsoon,” leaving up to two inches of standing water that soaked the beds, carpets, and personal electronics.
The ship’s itinerary was not delayed. The vessel continued its 8-night Eastern Caribbean sailing out of Fort Lauderdale without interruption.
Royal Caribbean’s onboard maintenance team responded quickly to isolate the leak. Affected passengers were moved to new rooms, their damaged belongings were packed up, and the cruise line provided complimentary laundry services for their soaked clothing. To resolve the disruption, Royal Caribbean stripped the flooded materials and offered affected guests a 50pc discount on a future cruise.
