Lufthansa will open Hangar One to the public on 1 August at Frankfurt Airport, housing two restored aircraft, the Junkers Ju 52 D-AQUI and the Lockheed Super Star D-ALAN. The 6,622-square-metre building beside the Lufthansa Aviation Center includes 89 archival objects on display, several appearing publicly for the first time. The exhibition moves from the first Luft Hansa of 1926 through the modern group to its ideas about future flight.
Admission is €8 for adults and €15 for families. The exhibition, bar and shop open Thursdays and Fridays from 8am to 6pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Visitors should allow 90 minutes to two hours for the exhibition, with a simulator session extending the experience. A Diamond DA42 simulator built around the training aircraft’s original cockpit allows visitors to participate in the experience.
Frankfurt Airport advises travellers to reach the terminal two to three hours before departure. With the bus journey and museum time included, a connection of at least six hours leaves a workable window. The Super Star’s restored interior will open near the end of 2026, while the Ju 52 will admit visitors during selected events.
