Lufthansa has reassured travellers that summer services continue despite the jet fuel situation in Europe.

The carrier maintained operations at its main hubs while sourcing fuel from alternative markets. Officials reported that suppliers confirmed stable supply at Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Brussels and Rome.

Lufthansa adjusted its schedule in April by removing 20,000 flights that represented 1pc of planned capacity. The group replaced around half of its previous Persian Gulf fuel with supplies from the United States and Nigeria. European refineries increased production to maximum capacity.
