Malaga Airport new security scanners allow liquids and electronics to remain inside hand luggage

Malaga Costa del Sol Airport has introduced advanced security scanners that allow liquids and electronics to remain inside hand luggage. The systems remove the need to unpack items at controls. Malaga Hoy reported the development on 27 June.

Installation of explosive detection systems for cabin baggage took place under the new regulatory plan. Earlier schedules planned for 2025 experienced delays due to European regulatory updates that prioritised Madrid, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca. Aena confirmed that civil engineering work preceded the fitting of new scanners.
