Mayo County Council is discussing a draft Economic Development Plan identifying Ireland West Airport Knock SDZ as major opportunity, one of 11 nationally and only rural zone outside urban area, co-located with international airport.
Designation as a SDZ would support aviation industries, hotel, conference facilities and commercial activity, with potential for significant job creation and regional economic drive for Mayo and northwest.
