Nicko Cruises has revealed its eight-day itinerary featuring hiking along the Danube in 2027. Sailing aboard the Bolero the cruise is available on two dates from 26 April to 3 May and from 4 to 11 October 2027 from and to Passau and calling at Krems, Esztergom, Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna and Ybbs. Five guided hikes are included in the price and guests can choose if they want to experience the landscape in spring or autumn.
The individual routes are between eight and 15 kilometres long and take around three and a half to five hours to complete. In Krems a 13-kilometre hike takes guests to the Wachau World Heritage Trail past vineyards and to vantage points with views of the Danube Valley. The three-and-a-half-hour hike ends in Dürnstein and its castle. In Budapest the starting point is the Elisabeth Lookout on the Jánosberg after which the route continues for about ten kilometres through the wooded heights of Buda to the Dreihotterberg.
In Bratislava the 15-kilometre hike begins in the Devín district and extends into the Devínska Kobyla nature reserve. The most challenging hike awaits in Vienna with the scenic Nasenweg trail leading up to the Leopoldsberg. The final hike takes guests from Ybbs to the Ysper Gorge between granite rocks past waterfalls and moss-covered stones.
