Regional Express has withdrawn from the Melbourne Airport to Devonport and King Island to Burnie routes from 20 June 2026. The airline cited a challenging operating environment and rising fuel prices as reasons for the decision. Both routes already receive service from other carriers.
Rex has consolidated frequencies on remaining routes with Melbourne to Burnie increasing to 18 weekly flights and Melbourne to King Island to seven weekly flights.
