Royal Caribbean has floated out the Hero of the Seas at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. The 250,800-ton vessel represents the latest phase of construction for the cruise line’s Icon Class vacation series.
The shipyard filled the drydock with more than 90m gallons of water overnight before the Hero moved into the outfitting pier. The vessel had its glass dome installed earlier this summer. Construction will continue at the outfitting pier over the next year ahead of the scheduled August 2027 debut in Miami.
The Hero of the Seas will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami following its maiden voyage. Every voyage will visit Royal Caribbean’s private destination, Perfect Day CocoCay in The Bahamas. The vessel follows the Legend of the Seas, which entered service earlier this year as the third ship in the Icon series.
